What a Weekend for Williams!

Motorpoint’s Pete Williams enjoyed one of the best weekends of his careers – with two victories in two different events.

On Saturday, Williams secured a brilliant victory at the Pendle Forest CC, completing the course with ease four minutes quicker than his closest rivals despite a broken chain.

“I wasn’t expected to win by that much,” explains 24-year old Pete, “especially after the problems with my chain. Having done 150 miles on Wednesday, I thought my legs might have been tired, but all was fine.”

Pete followed up his win the next day by storming across the finish line ahead of the 100-strong field in the second CDNW Road Race of the year around the blustery lanes of Cheshire.

From the outset the windy conditions proved tough for riders as the wind swept across the plains. All teams had strong line-ups (including the likes of Team Raleigh and Team Herbalife.co.uk) and by the first lap the groups had split down with the front-runners shaving three minutes off the second lap.

The pace was fast; the first three laps averaged 27 mph and only slowed marginally in the later stages. With the bell signalling the last lap, Williams broke into a sprint having kept in the front pack all race.

Richard Handley of Team Raleigh valiantly tried to break Williams surge but to no avail and Williams sailed over the finish line to take first. Malcolm Elliott was not far behind and took a very credible second with James Sampson placing fifth; giving Motorpoint yet again three out of the top five positions.
