Pete Williams closes in on RAS leader’s jersey

Motorpoint’s Pete Williams took one step closer towards claiming the overall leader’s jersey in the FBD Insurance RAS with another impressive performance in the eight-day tour of Southern Ireland.

Pete, claimed an impressive second during the gruelling 175km fifth stage between Tipperary and Carrick-on-Suir, crossing the line seven seconds behind stage winner and fellow Brit Jon Tiernan-Locke (Rapha Condor Sharp). Ian Bibby came in 1’44” down; Andy Roche 2’11”; James Sampson 2’12” and Jonny McEvoy 4’13”.

He now sits third overall, 59 seconds down on Alexander Wetterhall (Sweden – Team Sprocket Pro), as the guys go into stage six of the tour today between Carrick On Suir and Gorey. The team also sits third overall behind An Post Sean Kelly and Rapha Condor Sharp.
