Motorpoint stole the show in the Clayton Velo Spring Classic by taking three out of the top five positions in the season opener in Lancashire on Sunday.
The race started with four groups released at eight minute intervals, the last being the elite group hot on the heels of the leaders. With five laps to go the race began to take shape, with Motorpoint’s Pete Williams surging an attack on the leader.
With Williams leading the attack, the pace became fierce with a two man dash to the finish against competitor Dan Craven. With tired legs from Revolution 28 the previous night, Williams fought hard, but had to settle for second place.
Nonetheless, the race was a huge Motorpoint success with Jonny McEvoy and Ian Bibby finishing fourth and fifth, with James Sampson taking tenth place. Malcolm Elliott and Lee Davies also figured highly in the leader board.
