Motorpoint’s Jonny McEvoy has been chosen to represent Great Britain at the forthcoming UCI Road World Championships in Australia in late September.
The 20 year-old, who only turned pro this season, will be part of a team including Mark Cavendish, who has 15 Tour de France stage wins to his name, competing in Melbourne between September 29 and October 3. He will be racing alongside Alex Dowsett, Andy Fenn and Luke Rowe in the Under 23 Men’s Road Race.
Jonny has been one of the revelations of British cycling in 2010. A key member of the Motorpoint pro-cycling team, he has already put in strong performances in the Halfords Tour Series, the RAS Tour of Ireland, Nocturne Series and the National Circuit Championship to name but a few.
Says Keith Lambert, Team Manager: “Jonny’s inclusion in the World Championship squad is well-deserved. He’s had a fantastic year on the road and I am confident that he will do his country proud in Australia.”
