Luck of the Irish is with Motorpoint at the RAS

Motorpoint’s Andy Roche took fourth place in the opening leg of the FBD RAS in Ireland this Sunday.

Bright, blue skies followed the 153 riders who rode the 92-mile first stage between Dunboyne and Dundalk.

The bulk of the group stayed together for the duration of the stage, with only a half minute lead building across the entire race.

The race ended in an incredibly tight bunch sprint finish with a group of eight riders riding steadily throughout the race, only raising the tempo for the end.

Roche held a strong position through most of the race. Having won the event in 1997, he is an acknowledged veteran of the RAS having competed in the event numerous times before.

The rest of the Motorpoint team followed only a matter of seconds behind Andy with Pete Williams coming in 26th, James Sampson in 49th, Jonny McEvoy in 68th and Ian Bibby in 69th. Day two of the eight day event is a mostly flat 96-mile leg from Dundalk to Carrick.
