It’s a long way to Tipperary but not for Motorpoint

Motorpoint’s Ian Bibby came an impressive fourth in yesterday’s gruelling fourth stage of the FBD RAS 2010.

The team have taken a few days to adjust to the conditions in Southern Ireland but are now coming to the fore after good showings in the previous stages.

Yesterday’s stage was particularly technical with a variety of flat and steep terrain between Oughterard and Tipperary as 146 riders faced two category three climbs at Killanena and Knockanena. Pete Williams finished just behind him in seventh. This follows an equally tough stage three between Carrick and Oughterard including a category two climb within the final 35km.

The RAS has certainly not gone without incident with stage two having to be neutralised after three Spanish riders and an Italian were involved in a head on crash with a Jeep.

Andrew Roche is currently lying seventh overall. The riders now head to Carrick On Suir for the longest leg of the eight-day tour.
