Heat gets the better of Motorpoint at the British Road Race Championships

The heat got the better of Motorpoint at the British Road Championships 2010 in Pendle on Sunday.

The day was dominated by Sky Pro-Cycling strong performance which destroyed the rest of the field over the 180km Lancashire course.

Motorpoint was upfront in the early stages of the race with Ian Bibby in an early chase against Team Sky.

But, as temperatures soared to over 30 degrees, riders wilted across the course and the three Team Sky riders were left out on their own.

Further attacks came in the concluding stages of the race with several attempts being made to hold back the breakaways. The pace would prove impossible to beat as even the most experienced riders succumbed to the heat.

Team Sky secured a clean podium sweep with a 1-2-3 with Geraint Thomas taking the yellow jersey as British National Champion to the Tour de France.
