Motorpoint’s Ed Clancy is the new Elite National Criterium Champion. The Olympic and World Champion laid down a blistering turn of pace over the cobbled finishing straight in the Yorkshire town of Beverley last night to cross the line ahead of Ian Wilkinson (Endura) and fellow Motorpoint rider Jonny McEvoy. Pete Williams came sixth. Ed’s victory was anything but certain earlier in the race after after a breakaway including Kristian House (Rapha Condor Sharp), and Motorpoint’s Andy Tennant built a 15-second gap over the rest of the bunch only for Tennant to crash on the last lap, leaving a gap for Ed to exploit.
